Music production has become recently more and more desired as a job or career opportunity. We reached the necessity of having different kind of information together, as well as having someone (not just information) guiding you through the process in order to properly learn what equipment to use and how to use it.
The course is a MOOC, or a massive online open course with text, videos, tutorials, graphics, individual and group feedback and guidance from experts, explained in a simple manner with concrete examples, creating content together. Nonetheless it will be accompanied by an e-book manual to supplement the practical activities with theoretical information.
Those fully graduating from the course, together with the other 2 MOOCs will have the possibility to participate in the 2 mobilities planned for putting into practice all the learned aspects of the courses.
We do hope that the course will increase the knowledge of the learners and will give them the possibility that once finished the course to be able to compose, record and edit any songs at a average level.
Some of the planned contents are:
What equipment do we need?
Familiarizing with DAW (Digital Audio Workstation)
VST (Virtual Studio Technology) plug-ins. What are they? What are they for?
First steps in musical theory (solphegging)
Building percussion rhythms
Sound schemes (selecting our VST and modify them as we wish)
Roll Piano and continuing the musical theory
Channels and effects
Basic equalization
Compressors and buffers
Reverbs and delays
Maximizers
Advanced controlling (automation, buses, etc.)
The development of the contents will be based on music theory, sounds and sounds adjustments, practicing by doing (video recorded), practical exercises, forum discussions.
The course will be open to everyone interested in music production. Mind that is a course destined for beginners though!
