Sam Ryder is a British singer and social media personality from Maldon. In 2009 he entered the music industry working as a session player for bands like Blessed by a Broken Heart and Close Your Eyes. On the first lockdown he used the platform TikTok to publish music covers, which got some reactions from some celebrities, like Justin Bieber, Sia and Alicia Keys. By the end of the year he was the most followed UK artist on the platform. This led him to sign a contract with Parlophone.
In 2019, he started releasing some singles, such as “Set You Free”, “Whirlwind”, “July”, “More”, and in 2021, he debuted his first EP The Sun’s Gonna Rise, which reached over 100 million global streams and a sold-out tour. The next year, BBC selected the artist to represent the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022, with his single “Space Man”.
