Eurovision 2022: Ukraine - Kalush Orchestra

Kalush is an Ukrainian rap group that was formed in 2019 and named after the city Kalush set in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains. The group is composed by Oleh Psiuk, Ihor Didenchuk, Vlad Kurochke. In this year they released the first music video for "Ne marynui", shot in the streets of Kalush, and "Ty honysh", the second music video. After the group signed a contract with an American hip-hop label Def Jam Recordings. In 2021 was the debut of the first album Hotin, and second album with the rapper Skofka, called Yo-yo (Йо-йо).
Also in 2021, Kalush created a parallel project - The Kalush Orchestra, besides the multi-instrumentalists Tymofii Muzychuk and Vitalii Duzhyk and the backing vocalist Andriy Handzyuk. This project focuses on rap with folk motifs and Ukrainian traditional music. They released the single Stefania and competed with Vidbir. The group got second place, but after some confusion about the voting and Alina Pash, the first place, withdrew, the Kalush Orchestra was offered the chance to represent Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022. The group will go to Turin, but Oleksandr Slobodianyk will replace Andriy Handzyuk, who belongs to the Territorial Defense Forces of Ukraine and could not leave.
