Eurovision 2022: Sweden - Cornelia Jakobs
Music: Hold Me Closer
“No need to apologize
Cuz there‘s nothing to regret
Well this is not what I wanted
Guess all the good things come to an end”
Anna Cornelia Jakobsdotter Samuelsson, known professionally only as Cornelia Jakobs, is a Swedish singer and songwriter. Music has always been in her life with her father Jakob Samuel being the singer of Poodles and her grandmother who is a composer. So, in 2008, she decided to audition for the program Idol but was mocked by the jury. But that didn't stop her, in 2010 the band Love Generation was formed and Cornelia was a member, besides three other girls. The girl band participated in Melodifestivalen in 2011 with the song “Dance Alone”, which entered the Swedish charts.
In 2018, the artist launched her solo career, where she has been releasing singles, such as “Late Night Stories”, “All the Gold”, “You Love Me”, “Dream Away”, and others. Two years later, she debuted “Weight of the World”, which became the soundtrack of a TV series in HBO Nordic. And in 2021, Cornelia participated at Melodifestivalen as a songwriter with the song “Best of Me”, which was performed by Efraim Leo.
The year after, the singer competed again on the Melodifestivalen 2022, and with her single “Hold Me Closer”, she won and gained the opportunity to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022, in Turin.
