Mariana Brito da Cruz Forjaz Secca, professionally known as MARO, is a singer and songwriter from Portugal. She took her first steps in music when started studying classical piano at the age of four, then at eleven years old she wrote her first song and at twelve she began self-learning playing the guitar. MARO decided to pursue her music career, so she moved to LA and started studying at Berkley College of Music. After graduating, the artist released her first solo album divided into three volumes with songs in Portuguese and in English.
She has been collaborating with many different artists, including Jacob Collier, Jessie J, Eric Clapton, Salvador Sobral, Fatai, The Paper Kites, Odesza, and many other artists. Since 2018, MARO also debuted the albums Maro & Manel and It’s OK, the EP Pirilampo, and some singles, like “What Difference Will it Make”, “am i not enough for now?”, or “we’ve been loving in silence”. Currently, she is opening for Charlotte Cardin’s European Tour.
In 2022, with the song “Saudade, Saudade” MARO won Festival da Canção 2022 and was chosen to represent Portugal at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022, in Turin.
