Begin Again

Director: John Carney

Genre: Music, Dram, Romantic, Comedy

Starring: Keira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo, Adam Levine, Hailee Steinfield, James Cordon

You probably know Keira from Pirates of Caribbean or 19th century English romantic movies such as Pride and Prejudice but she has actually worth-mentioning performance -and voice on that matter- with Begin Again. You encounter endeavors of making a demo album by Gretta (Keira Knightley) and Dan (Mark Ruffalo) throughout the film. And the good thing is they actually prepared an album in real life which consists of Keira’s and Adam Levine’s performances.

Begin Again has an amazing cast but what is interesting is that even though it stars actual musicians like Adam Levine and Hailee Steinfield, through making Keira on the spot the film provides an uncompromising sincerity and gentility. It is not about making popular songs or becoming a star that everybody dreams of. It is about love, music, passion, joy, laughter, self journey and many other things that can only be experienced while watching the movie.

The song “Lost Stars” performed by Adam Levine gained much attention, however, the track originally has been made for the film. According to the storyline, our protagonist Gretta writes and performs the song. Click here for Keira’s version. It’s worth the mention Lost Stars has earned an Academy Award nomination for ‘Best Original Song’. The song maybe on the frontier of the movie but even only the rest of the original songs is making this film worthy of watch.
